We aim to accomodate the varied needs and aims of individual riders coming to us as associates members. Your first year of membership of RAM is included in the purchase of the Advanced Rider Course.
You will be sent a physical copy of the course logbook by IAM RS. It covers 8 competency areas and each of your early sessions is likely to be focussed on one of them. At the end of each session you will complete a run sheet with your observer. This will include your agreed progress in a range of domains and your agreed development plan. The competencies you have achieved will also be recorded in your logbook and with the runsheet copied into a Dropbox folder to which you will have access.
After your initial session you may have a few sessions with one particular observer but usually that is followed up with a progress review by one of our senior observers. Most riders need between 6 and 10 sessions, spaced to allow practice between each. When you agree with your observers that you are test ready you will have a pre-test assessment with either our chief observer or guidance secretary. When your IAM RS file is flagged as "test ready" you will be notified by IAM and paired with an examiner who will get in touch with you.
